Photo a Day Challenge - 29.4.2020 - Month of Gratitude.

Quilting... where would I be if I couldn't make quilts for not only myself but for so many family members and charities as well!  Love it!  Started seriously back in 1992 and have made so many quilts I've lost count!  This one above is one of the first, I made one for David and one for myself as well... then below when I thought I'd be silly and make a little quilt using 3/16th of an inch Hexagons... look what happened!  Wow!
But... receiving this below written by Charlie when he was in about 2nd Class... is just magical!
28 years of making quilts is never enough, a lot more are coming 😊

Love knowing my family history and that there is an Island in Sydney Harbour named after my Rodd  Family... and that we are able to party on it on special occasions, costs a bomb but well worth it every time!  Love it!

Very Grateful that I noticed I'd sewed the left sleeve of Nerys' jumper upside down before I gave it to her 😊 in the almost 70 years I've been knitting, my Great Aunt Carol taught me when I was 5 and I've hardly stopped.
Just a couple of finishing touches...

Photo a Day Challenge - 16.4.2020 - Month of Gratitude.

Very Grateful for so many lovely memories of my first-cousin-once-removed Sue Watson.  Sue was only 4 years older than I was, here we are at Wollogorang.  Sue tried to teach me good manners something she learnt from her schools we think... one of these 'manners' still gets a laugh in our family whenever we are together.
When at the dinner table enjoying your meal and you would like some salt, or pepper, or whatever and it is out of your reach you must never say...  'I want the salt', or 'Pass the salt'... one must say naming the person it is closest to... 'Peter, would you like the Salt?'  to which Peter should reply... 'No thank you Pennie, but would you?'   our grandkids love this particular 'Good Manner'  😃😃😃

Sue passed away earlier this year... ❤️ R.I.P Sue.

Photo A Day Challenge - 15.4.2020 - Month of Gratitude.

Very grateful that David listened to me back in 1968 and did what I suggested  😉😊😉😊
When I arrived in England to marry David he was driving this Vauxhall Wyvern, which made camping trips were very uncomfortable, sleeping in one of these ugly things was not fun... plus I had to peer through the steering wheel when driving.

When I saw one of these London Taxi's I suggested we buy one of these because there was a lot of room in the back for sleeping two people, not one in the front and one in the back as in that Vauxhall, so many very happy memories of living in this beautiful vehicle but also seeing so many wonderful countries on the small funds we had.
We owned 'Tabitha' Taxi for a wonderful 26 years!  You can check out my Blog here.

Photo a Day Challenge - 13.4.2020 - A Month of Gratitude.

I am Grateful to Bakers Delight... for many years now... gosh so long ago I can't remember but I do know all our children were still living at home and were still at school, long long ago 😊

After I went shopping I would carefully fold up the plastic bags I got (taking your own bags wasn't a thing back then) and we used them for rubbish bins and all sorts of things.

Tomo asked me only this year how I did this very clever, if you don't mind me saying, folding.  I even taught David's mother how to 'fold'.

Then today when I ordered online from Bakers delight I was stunned to see this printed on their plastic bags!  Wow, exactly the way I've been doing it all these years and have taught many people to do!  I wonder when they discovered my idea??
Neatly folded plastic bag ready to go into my Plastic Bag storage vase.
Thank you Bakers Delight, Way to Goooooooo...

Photo a Day Challenge - 12.4.2020 - Month of Gratitude.

My Great Aunt Ella in her beautiful garden on what was once a Tennis Court.
 Ella's home.

I remember looking forward to visiting our beautiful Aunt Ella, she was such a lovely person.  Ella was the older sister of my Grandfather Clements, the only girl in this side of the Rodd Family, but I did not like the cake she usually served us.  Ella didn't have much money to live on so she shared her small home with a friend.  The aforementioned cake she served was usually very old and had mould on it somewhere, I remember my brother Tim and I asking if we could go outside to enjoy our cake which we were allowed to do... very quickly we found one of Ella's garden spades, found a spare piece of garden and buried our cake 😊  I have no idea if she ever discovered our wicked ways!

Ella's garden was so beautiful and always in flower, this Camelia below is a cutting of one from her garden in Drummoyne.  It has struggled a bit here but last year it burst into the most beautiful flowers ever seen.
Such wonderful memories of my beautiful Great Aunt Ella.
