Tomos at my 50th Birthday Cabaret 1995, 21 years ago but much admired by all the Grandchildren.

Here's a lovely story :-) I do love my Children and my Grandchildren!

David and I have been enjoying watching an old DVD of my 50th Birthday Cabaret which Tomos and his friends organized for us in our Garage 21 years ago…  so we put it on again the next day when the Thompson's and Gwil's family were here celebrating a couple of birthdays.

Everybody is watching the TV while we go about our fun business.

Remy has started helping me mix a salad but announces that he needs to do a poo, so I say....  'Off you go and call me when you need me'.    A little while later he calls me… I go into the loo and Remy says to me.

'Can you tell me an Olden Day story about Tom and singing?'
I bring out the old story…

When Tom was about 7, unknown to me he joined a local Choir.  I found this out when the Choir Master rang and asked me to pay Tom's fees, apparently the Choir Master had been up at our local oval looking for members and Tom joined up.

I asked Tom if he wanted to sing and he told me that he wanted to be on a Fantale Wrapper one day,  (I had to explain what this meant to Remy and he listened intently),  then I went on about how Tom loved the Ku-ring-gai Boys Choir so we found Meg Mathews a Music Teacher up the road.  When the Choir Group finished the Music Teacher  suggested another Singing Teacher on the other side of the highway, then after a while she suggested Tom go to Robert Bickerstaff who was a baritone singer and teacher having taught in Cambridge.  After a while Robert suggested Tom should try out for St Andrews Cathedral Choir which he did and we would go and see him in the big Cathedral in the City, Tom was wearing purple robes when he sang here.  Then Tom got into the Children's Chorus for the Australian Opera and sang in four different Opera's in 1988…

Remy was gobsmacked!  'Tom sang at the big Opera House?'  with a surprised face and a very big sigh.

Toileting now finished, hands washed with soap and back to the Salad.

I do love Grandkids!!

Just spent an hour or so looking for colour in our summer garden, well actually I did spend most of that time chatting to Nancy Watson... she says to say Hello to Nerys, Tomos, Briony and Gwilym!!!

Where did all these come from?

Nerys has a friend who is laid up at the moment so she asked if I had 'Pride and Pred' on DVD to lend to this friend... so taking a big breath I delved into this collection?  mess?  which has sat untouched under this Welsh Dresser for many many years!

There are heaps of DVD's and several Videos!  Holeymaloney!  I didn't know we had most of these, I think some may have been Rip'n'Rosie's.
Look at that, a big clear space... it's been a while since we've seen this... hang on!   I think there are more of this sort of stuff in the drawers... Dang!

Another day of fun fun fun...

First thing in the morning we went up the drive to collect the paper and to wave to Jackson's Bus as it went past us on it's way to the High School up the road.  We also had a bit of a chat to Alda our Neighbour.   Remy wore his cape made especially for carrying things in it  :-)  Then the usual struggle getting the plastic off the Newspaper.

Our Water Dragon came asking Remy for a couple of Blueberries which Remy was only to happy to supply  :-)  but she whisked herself away before I could get my camera...  then this beautiful King Parrot came for a bit of a chat... Remy just loved him as well.

David has been waiting for a good helper to paint the old tennis seat that was looking very sad, Remy did a great job but got paint on his hands  :-)

Remy Helps David get the Albion Magazine into their envelopes ready for posting.

We are enjoying Remy's company for a few days while his Mum and Dad try to sort out his little sisters sleeping pattern. We are the Winners!

This box of up to 40 plus year old cars is always popular.  There's some Transformers in here as well, I have no idea how they Transform!!  :-)   I don't think I ever did.
Remy was quick to name these little dolls I knitted for Charity, they are names of twins at his school and a neighbour.  How lovely is he.
Ear muffs on watching David mow the lawn... this is a novelty for Remy.
A run down at Bobbin Head.
 Checking out the water.
Found a stick almost as tall as he is.

Took me a few hours to understand this little incident...  driving back up the hill from Bobbin Head the red light came on in my car warning me that I was low in petrol so we headed to our Service Station before going home.   I introduced Tom the pump assistant to Remy and Remy was very surprised.   As we left the station he asked me what that man was doing putting petrol into my car.   I just said it was Tom's job, that's what he did as well as washing windscreens and pumping up tyres for the customers.

It wasn't till later that day that I realized, just like mowing our lawn, pump attendants were rare in the Inner City suburbs  :-)   No wonder our little home in the Burbs is so different to what he's used to.
I suggested to my friend Lynne, that she might like a helper to walk Molly, her sweet little dog.  Lynne agreed and Remy jumped at the chance so with ball on string tied to the front of his pants then trailing behind his back he took off.   There were a few incidents which involved tangles with poor Molly coming out the worst for it but she never complained and Remy just loved her.
Back home at David and Peepee's  Remy helped David put the newly arrived Albion Club magazines into their envelopes...  Remy is very good at all sorts of jobs.

Look who was waiting at my back door this morning, she or he was glittering in the sun, I thought someone has started decorating my back door for Christmas... but no, it was much better than that!

Isn't it amazing, all the detail in this dragonfly is wonderful.  I've given up searching online to see what it is called, there must be 1,000's of different dragonflies!

 Looking at me it is...

So while I was outside with my camera I just can't help myself  :-)
Our old copper is looking really lovely with these overflowing plants.

Forgotten what this rose is called but I will remember soon....

I think these are my favourite flowers.
