Penelope Jane... Put your hands UP... and WALK away from the Puzzle!!!!! Day Eight.

Lots done now but I have done other stuff as well today, I've slept in, dressed, had breakfast, gone shopping, went to Library, put away shopping, cooked lunch, taken a couple of phone calls, checked the emails and FB, made a double quantity of Pea and Ham Soup... see...  I haven't been puzzling all day... not  ALL Day :-)

P.S.  I even took this photo and put it on my Blog!

Wet... Wet... WET...

I've been meaning to take a photo of this pretty little bush for Gwilly, but it's been raining almost non stop for years and years now and I just didn't ... do today I said... Dang!  Rain isn't ever going to stop...  so take photo.  Gwilym gave it to me on Rosie's Birthday which was just lovely :-) and he told me where to plant it :-)   Thanks Gwillo, it looks so pretty doesn't it but I've lost it's card and I can't remember what it is now :-(

P.S.  Just found the tag... it's a Pieris, Temple Bells.  Snowy white bell shaped flowers in late Spring, new foliage is light green becoming reddish bronze and maturing to a deep emerald green... Wow!  That's one very busy little bush.

With camera in pocket I walked out to pick up the paper and couldn't resist taking photo of our puddles... I love it when puddles form on our driveway,  little people love to splash in them and I love to drive through them.

David laid this brick driveway about 30 years ago, he ordered 4,000 old recycled bricks to start but didn't even get to the back door, then he ordered another 10,000 but still didn't make it out to the street and in the end I can't remember how many bricks he had to buy.

I used to love the way the bricks rattled as we drove down the drive but over the years it's settled down and doesn't rattle at all... but now I love the bumps and dips caused by tree roots or soft earth underneath.  When the driveway rattled we always knew when someone was coming, now we have no idea till they are upon us!

When we started talking about a driveway we threw about all sorts of ideas, bitumen, cement, gravel, paving and so on but in then end decided to use recycled bricks because we could always sell them if we were really broke!!  :-)  As if!

YAY!!! Brainiac at Last!!!!!!

Most days David and I like to do the Sydney Morning Herald Quiz on my iPad... the highest we've ever scored was 'Smarty Pants' but today we broke the barrier and made it to 'Brainiac'.  David and I are now Brainiac's ...  Yay... Yay... Yay...

I know it's still a long way to becoming 'Genius' but hey... Brainiac is good for us  :-)

P.S. I meant to do this when I posted first... Answers to # 1 Hedwig (I think we must be the only people who do not know this)  # 13 Operation Barbarossa and # 14 Badminton!

P.P.S.  My brother... Timothy Ripley... suggests that if David and I did this quiz together that means we only have half brains so we are only Half Brainiacs!  Thanks Tim!!

Second floor is up...

I'm still amazed that permission was granted to build this house, it takes up about 90% of the land but I suppose they have the park next door to play in.  No Privacy though???

Last day of School for Abigail, Matilda and George in Macao.

Emma tells me that this is the last time she will be picking up George before lunch, believe it or not he will go full days when school returns in September.  He will still be three years old, well for the first month anyway :-)

Matilda is known as Matilda at school, not Tilly :-)

Look at the contrast in hair colour here... amazing!  Abigail and George with Abi's friend Jorga.

Tilly's beautiful work of art, with a dolphin leaping and a rainbow... how lovely Tilly.

Wow this is a bit grown up, Abi with her hair in a perfect bun ready for a Ballet Exam.
Lovely photos thanks Emma :-)

What a shock to hear of Mick Aston's death last night, and so young, younger than I am!

I'm almost ready to start the armholes... so I should be wearing this beautiful cardy before the end of Winter.

Thanks to my friend...

Day One.

I found this 'World's Smallest 1,000 Piece Puzzle' on the first weekend of December last year... in my Fridge... yes I found it nicely wrapped up...  in my Refrigerator!    That day had been very hot, 35c in fact, and there were 23 SCQuilters locked up in my home celebrating Christmas, it being far too hot to be outside.

A very nicely written card accompanied this Puzzle but the gift giver didn't sign the card.

Now I had my suspects and I'd garnered a few hints from others but I had to play this game as it had started so....   I bided my time and played without letting on I was playing... So last Saturday I invited a couple of SCQuilter friends for a bit of a sit and sew and outed my chief suspect who had really given herself away last time I saw her... Marilyn tried to look innocent and the others gathered had no idea what the heck was going on but in a flash I unwrapped the puzzle and three two of us got stuck into it... for a little while at least, there is only so long a person can look at these little pieces without going round the bend!!

Top photo is what Marilyn and Liz put together and below is what I managed to do yesterday... I wonder how long it will take, it's slow work so far but I'm loving it and isn't it a wonderful picture!

P.S.   I'm sure there are lots of pieces missing already  :-)

Today would have been Rosie's 90th Birthday, she so wanted to make it to 90 but had to be content to make it to her 90th year...

There was just one little rose flowering in our garden this morning and of course it made me think of Rosie.  Before she died Rosie asked me to tell the family that if they saw a rose nodding in the breeze it would be her saying hello!  This morning this little rose nodded it's head at me as I was trying to take it's photo so I picked it and have it inside with me  :-)

How lucky are we... another Jackson and Charlie Sleepover :-)

We have some new 'House Rules' which were religiously adhered to  this weekend :-)

Now who is this shy person hiding under one of my Raggy Quilts!!

Of course it's that shy little fellow... Charlie Ripley...  who's first words this morning were... 'Pennie don't forget the new House Rules, Cookies before Breakfast!!'

And he had two before his French Toast, Bacon, Berries and Yoghurt... he didn't forget the Maple Syrup, even though I had :-)

This Minecraft thing is amazing, I can't begin to know how it all works but it's good clever fun.

Dinner last night was delicious with Portuguese Chicken (from Harris Farm), little Roast Potatoes, Carrots, Corn and Sugar Peas with seconds of the Chicken being requested then Meringue Cases with Berries and Yoghurt!  Yum!

And guess what... Charlie caught a Fly, the first Fly he's ever caught.  He saw it trying to get out through the glass so followed it and put his mug over it, we slipped a piece of paper under the mug then put some holes in the paper... Charlie was very sad to see it was upside down by the time his Mum arrived to pick them up, but it did fly away after being put outside  :-)
