Birds Birds and more of them.

I have been feeding one Cocky every now and then but yesterday there was a big battle...  a beautiful King Parrot popped in for a little bit of native bird seed so I gave him a tiny bit but then one Cocky appeared and frightened Mr King away, then another and another Cocky arrived and it was just madness so Mr King flew away... four flippin Cockies fighting for a bit of Mr King's seed, the one sitting on the branch above is either the one I've fed a few times or the Boss of the Cockies!!  Anyway I shooed them away and a little while later Mr King re-appeared so I gave him a tiny bit of seed on the old tram seat beside the table but out of sight in this photo, then I headed to the Sewing room...

And who should arrive shortly after flying onto a branch outside my sewing room and peering in the window but Mandy and... and... yesterday was Mandy's 5th Birthday...  but was it Mandy??  I got a couple of pieces of meat and threw it on the driveway but this Kooka just looked at it and shortly after flew away, Mandy used to fly down and gobble up my offerings very quickly.

Photo a Day Challenge - 28.11.2021 - Pastel.

I started making this 1/2 inch Hexagon quilt back in 2005 when we went to England for six months to meet Abigail.  It took me years to make and when finished I gave to Abigail on her 13th Birthday.

Rain rain rain rain and more rain!

This is what my phone tells me just about every day, there has been the promise of the odd ray of sunshine but that mostly hasn't happened and if it has it's only lasted a few minutes.
My morning walk to pick up David's paper has been similar to these photos almost every day and even though the paper has been wrapped in plastic yesterday's paper was so soaking wet it was impossible to use, lucky we also have the SMH online.

This is interesting from Elders Weather.

Photo a Day Challenge - 27.11.2021 - Light.

This beautiful old light fitting came from our old home which was out the front of our current home, it has to be almost 100 years old and it now sits in our Dining room, or should I say now 'hangs'!  We have an identical light fitting in the Sitting Room next door which was given to us by my friend Smurray!

This clever man can fix anything!! Yay!

A piece of gutter fell off and onto the ground the other day but don't worry... David can fix it.

Cleaning out the broken bit.

Putting in some icky stuff.

Refitting the bit of gutter that fell off.

All done and very happy!

All done and back to some normal, Goodonya Dave!

Hurray! Hurray! Pink Hydrangeas are coming back.

These beautiful Hydrangeas are flowering almost as well as the old ones did back in 1993!  I do love them and they bring back so many lovely family memories of my Mama and Poppa's home in Strathfield.
Same place photographed today.

'Nar Vale' Poppa and Mama's home in Strathfield with Tim about 2 years and Pennie about 5 years.  (No colour photos back in those days, these were blue Hydrangeas behind us.)

Our beautiful Lemon Scented Gums are doing what they do naturally, shredding their bark as Summer comes along.

As each day goes by more and more bark cracks off.

Our Aggies are starting to open up now, so stunning! The bestest year ever.

Last week I counted 41 buds, yesterday I counted 61 but today I counted 63 and there is one under the letterbox that has been broken, probably an accident by the Postie.

Just a few of our Aggies, can't take a photo of the whole driveway and the 63 flowering buds.

My Birthday Present to my Beloved David... and a Story.

1968 -  Not long after David and I married in Guildford, Surrey he asked me to darn one of his socks!  I was horrified, yes I can sew, I can knit... but darning??  He also suggested I turn a collar on his old shirt!  Turn Collars??  Darn Sock's??  I had never known anyone in my family who did this sort of thing so where on earth did he get these ideas from??  I know his mother nor would his Grandmother have done this so??

1967 - Let me introduce you to Auntie Nellie.

When David arrived in the UK in 1967 he first stayed with and spent a lot of time with the Waugh family who's son Peter he'd met in NZ hence the reason to travel to England and start seeing the World.

In this photo we have from left - Rupert, Elsie, Peter, Aunty Nellie, Barb (also an Aussie) a young French visitor, David and Christine Waugh on his lap.

Auntie Nellie was a single woman with no home of her own but several siblings who she stayed with in rotation.  While staying with Rupert and family Nellie would do mending jobs such as Darning Socks and Turning Collar's.

I arrived in Guildford in 1968 and it was Elsie who put on a little Wedding lunch for us, we did stay with the Waugh's for a week before our Wedding and of course visited many times over the three years we were travelling around.

I remember seeing Nellie doing the mending on her visits but never never never was I going to 'Darn a Sock' or 'Turn a Collar'.

Okay... we are now 53 years and 5 months married and...  as today is David's birthday his gift from me is bigger than any gift I've given him before!

This shirt is much loved... and now will be even more loved and loved by myself as well.
Doesn't the Birthday Boy look Happy!  Happy Birthday David 🎂 🎉 🥳 🎉 🥳

Embarrassing!

This 'Penelope' has just solved her Mystery to her great EMBARRASSMENT

🧐 I rang Big W about my mystery parcel of three large bottles of hand wash and after a couple of return calls it turns out that I had tried to order hand wash with my last Woolworths Order but didn't get it... just checked my last 'List' from Woolies and..... Silly Pennie posing as Penelope! Did order and she did pay for these three bottles! AND it says below that it will be 'shipped' by 'Market Partner'

What a lovely day it was today, rain rain and more rain but lunch with some of our family that we haven't seen for months, still waiting to see lots of other family though.

As per usual we started with Cheese Fondue and the compulsory line up.

We were celebrating Birthdays, not only David's which is tomorrow and Gwilym's which is Monday week but all our family that we haven't been able to see for so so so so long now.

18 Birthday Cakes plus a Lemon Tart sort of thing that I just made up the recipe for...

My Lemon Tart was a great success, absolutely delicious and loved by everyone, I must try and remember what I put into it... mmmm...  tomorrow maybe.

Happy Birthday to everybody in the Griffiths Family!!

Boo... who is this person I wonder??
