iChatting to Macao, always lots of fun :-)

 Tom and Abi.

 George.

 George and Tom.

Abi told us all about a show they went to see last night, it sounded rather 'different' but it sounded as though they had a really good time.

 Abi.

George was showing us a game on the iPad.

 Tilly and Tom.

George show us some of his Yoga, first he laid out the mat them performed for us.

Tilly came and went... came and went.

George showed us his new bike!  He went for a ride around the table and back.

Then George showed us some more of his Yoga moves.

 Tom kissed us goodbye...

But George had one more Yoga move to show us.  Lovely, just lovely to be able to chat like this :-)

It's wet, wet, wet, windy, windy, windy, damp, damp, damp and miserable! So....

Jason, my butcher, makes the best Sausage Rolls, now this is from someone who has never liked sausage rolls because they've always been too fatty... but Jason's are terrific... I buy 10 at a time and freeze them.   I never eat the sausage rolls like normal people do, I defrost them just enough so I can slice through them, making 12 thin rounds with each sausage roll... Then...

.... I put them on a baking tray lined with baking paper and cook them until the smell in the kitchen is divine and they are crispy and lightly browned.

Yummy for lunch, especially on a day like today and wonderful for a Party and the Grandchildren love them as well... Yum!

I know, as I gracefully mature, this phrase is a common one but I have to say it... 'They're getting younger and younger these days! ' :-)

Here is the sweetest little Annabell putting all my fruit and veggies through the cash machine, how lovely is she eh!  How lucky was I??    Annabell was standing on a milk crate, I think she's about 4 years old.

More about Nurse Rodd!

It was the 23rd of July 1965, my 20th Birthday when I met all these other wannabe Nurses at Prince Henry Hospital Little Bay, my mother had been a Nurse here during WW2, it was called The Coast Hospital back then.  PHH was a long long way from our home in Newport but it had it's own little beach which we loved.  The Hospital was on enormous grounds with a long coastline and just south of Long Bay jail, we nursed prisoners at times, they were always guarded by a Policeman sitting beside their bed.  There was also a whole building housing several Aborigines with Leprosy, which I never worked in.  Only very special older Nurses worked there.

Now most of the Hospital site is under new housing and I'm finding it hard to work out what is left from what I used to know.

 Swimming at Little Bay.

With nurse friend  ???  I can't remember names... it's been 46 years since I was here.
The lovely old wards with their big veranda's can be seen on the bottom corner left, and I thought that red brick rectangle building  with the central courtyards was the old Nursing Home but according to Google it was demolished in 2003?

I can see I need to drive down to Little Bay and have a little look around... one day soon!

You can see in this photo, just how close we were to Long Bay Jail!

The Hospital closed down completely in 2003, most to the services transferred to the Prince of Wales Hospital.

Party - Party - Party with my Ku-ring-gai Quilter friends - plus our Irene Quilt Challenge Revelations.

We are a small group of 7 (8 if Gay is visiting from the UK) we live in adjoining suburbs and we met through the Internet.  We keep ourselves to this small number because we meet in each others homes every fortnight, we started meeting 10 1/2 years ago and really enjoy our once a year get togethers with our quilty friends and our husbands.

Yesterday we enjoyed the Revelations of Irene's Ku-ring-gai Challenge.  Irene gave each of us two pieces of fabric, all the fabrics were different but all were one piece of Kaffe Fasset and one contrast fabric with small spots, or similar... .

Gay sent her Challenge from Romsey in the UK, she wasn't able to join us this year... Gay has donated this quilt to a Charity.

Gillian started to make a couple things, firstly a Mouse Door Stop, then she had other ideas and started some Hexagons... Gillian bought the books she got her inspiration from plus the extra fabrics she was intending to use!  Lets hope we see that lovely little Mouse Door Stop one day :-)

Irene didn't get to finish her Challenge but what she's done so far is stunning.

Jan's Revelation was presented as a stage play with DH Ross as MC and all of us involved, even our very special guests, Irene's sister Eve and Eve's DH Dirk all the way from Zimbabwe... Jan's Challenge had a Hawaiian theme, hence the Lei, each of us unwrapped the parcel and read the cryptic poem leading to the next person to open... ending up with Jan and her Challenge.

Lyn's Revelation was big and bold and beautiful and finished!  A gift for DD Kylie.

Here are the two fabrics I received from Irene above and below is the little wall hanging I made with mini Log Cabin blocks... what a fiddle they turned out to be.

Penny Smith excelled herself with this beautiful little book made for her Grand Daughter, we all poured over this book, it's absolutely exquisite and so clever and so much work.  Penny wonders if she will ever hand it over to her GD :-)  as long as there are no sticky fingers or felt pens about at the same time I think it will be safe Penny.

Robyn made this beautiful Hawaiian cushion for her little Grand Daughter, just so pretty isn't it, her GD will just love it.

This year we allowed the DH's to do their Show and Tell...  after David's long and detailed talk on Microwaves we may not allow it again!  But there again look at the Audience, none of them are asleep...

But thankfully Peter saved the day with his music score and his humorous Poem/Song found in a Punch Magazine.

I couldn't find the poem or the cartoon on Google but this one below is similar to what Peter read to us.

Noah's Ark in Today's Society...

The Lord speaks to Noah and says: "In one year, I am going to make it rain and cover the whole Earth with water until all is destroyed. But I want you to save the righteous people and two of every kind of living thing on the Earth. Therefore, I am commanding you to build an Ark."

Noah's Ark
In a flash of lightning, God delivered the specifications for an Ark.

Fearful and trembling, Noah took the plans and agreed to build the Ark.

"Remember," said the Lord, "You must complete the Ark and bring everything aboard in one year."

Exactly one year later, a fierce storm cloud formed and all the seas of the earth went into a tumult. The Lord saw Noah sitting in his front yard weeping.

Noah's Ark
"Noah." He shouted, "Where is the Ark?"

"Lord, please forgive me!" cried Noah. "I did my best but there were big problems. First, I had to get a permit for construction and your plans did not comply with the codes. I had to hire an engineering firm and redraw the plans.

Then I got into a fight with OSHA over whether or not the Ark needed a fire sprinkler system and floatation devices.

Then my neighbor objected, claiming I was violating zoning ordinances by building the Ark in my front yard, so I had to get a variance from the city planning commission.

Noah's Ark
I had problems getting enough wood for the Ark, because there was a ban on cutting trees to protect the Spotted Owl. I finally convinced the U.S. Forest Service that I needed the wood to save the owls.

However, the Fish and Wildlife Service won't let me catch any owls. So, no owls.

The carpenters formed a union and went out on strike. I had to negotiate a settlement with the National Labor Union. Now I have 16 carpenters on the Ark, but still no owls.

When I started rounding up the other animals, I got sued by an animal rights group. They objected to me only taking two of each kind aboard.

Noah's Ark
Just when I got the suit dismissed, the EPA notified me that I could not complete the Ark without filing an environmental impact statement on your proposed flood. They didn't take very kindly to the idea that they had no jurisdiction over the conduct of the Creator of the universe.

Then the Army Corps of Engineer demanded a map of the proposed new flood plain. I sent them a globe.

Right now, I am trying to resolve a complaint filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission that I am practicing discrimination by not taking godless, unbelieving people aboard!

The IRS has seized all my assets, claiming that I'm building the Ark in preparation to flee the country to avoid paying taxes.

Noah's Ark
I just got a notice from the State that I owe some kind of user tax and failed to register the Ark as a 'recreational water craft.'

Finally the ACLU got the courts to issue an injunction against further construction of the Ark, saying that since God is flooding the earth, it is a religious event and therefore unconstitutional.

I really don't think I can finish the Ark for another 5 or 6 years!" Noah wailed.

The sky began to clear, the sun began to shine and the seas began to calm. A rainbow arched across the sky.

Noah's Ark
Noah looked up hopefully. "You mean you are not going to destroy the Earth, Lord?"

"No," said the Lord sadly. "The government already has!"
