Photo a Day Challenge - 30.9.2018 - Pineapple.

Not being a great Pineapple eater I've stolen this picture from the internet, gave me a giggle it did.

Charles II is presented with the first pineapple grown in England (1675 painting by Hendrik Danckerts).

Photo a Day Challenge - 29.9.2018 - Grey.

The USSR Rouble I smuggled out in 1970.   In those days if you had any left over Russian money you had to hand it over to Customs when you left the country, I wasn't going to do that, I hid it in my shoe 😉

Photo a Day Challenge - 26.9.2018 - Kind Act.

1970 - arriving in San Francisco for a four month stay and with only $US18 to our name in the hope that David's Uncle Keith and Aunt Virginia, who told us we had to visit them on our way home after our trip from England through Russia and Siberia... would find us jobs was very quickly dashed when Keith said no Visa no Jobs!
But he then took us to his bank... and his act of kindness meant we were able to buy a second hand station wagon and spend most of those four months camping through California, Oregon, Washington into Canada then East to Medicine Hat, South through Montana, Yellowstone National Park, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, Tucson and into Baj California, then north to Disneyland, Los Angeles and back to Carmel.
Forever thankful to Keith and Virginia for this seriously 'kind act'.

Photo a Day Challenge - 25.9,2018 - Playful.

Nerys and Tomos enjoying lots of fun with our first sheep Suzy, bought at the Goulburn Sale Yards back in 1974 on our way back home from our four month adventure of touring around the southern coast of NSW, Victoria and South Australia.  Suzy was very content being tied to the back platform of the Big Green Double Decker on that journey from Goulburn to Sydney.

What is this beatiful flower? I've looked online but just can't find a similar flower!

So pretty when I picked it yesterday, then last night it closed up hiding it's beauty!

This morning I put it outside into the sun... and it's opening once again.

This is where I picked it, looks like a weed doesn't it, there are two more buds coming along see in circles!

Celebrating...

We thought we'd Celebrate 47 years of living at the same address today by going up to one of the Cafe's at our local shops, but we were just so busy we couldn't afford the time, I got stuck into the ironing and David took his Van to get his overdue rego check... it failed!!  Back home to mend the problem and by this time I was seriously into making blocks for a rather large quilt I'm making for a family member... so what you gonna do!  Order Pizza that's what... and how delicious was this from 'Farina Pizzeria' our local Italian restaurant!   Yummo!

Forty Seven years ago today... we moved into our first home.

Our friends Neill and Sally helped us move from our flat in Roseville to our new home...  and yes I was heavily pregnant with our first child due in four days.  She was 10 days late so I had plenty of time to settle in 😀
My London Taxi and David's Ford Falcon with Sally helping load up.

 The driveway.
 Our Home!
Looking up the driveway to the back yard.

From the backyard looking towards the front.
Our Sitting Room full of inherited family furniture.
We eventually took that Gas heater out and enjoyed an open fire.
The Bathroom with a hand basin so tiny David couldn't put two hands in at once... we didn't keep it when we built behind but we still have that bath!
 Our Kitchen!
Our Bedroom with bed borrowed from Neill.

Forty Seven years ago today.   Wow!
We lived in this lovely old home for 10 years minus two years overseas, then with a much larger family and knowing there were white ants and rot in this old home we built behind and pulled it down 😢 which was sad but our home behind is so so so so much better.
