What a Fun Day!

Guess where we went today?   Here's a clue...

Do you know who these people are?

John Witter is my 'Ghost' and Robina his wife... I'm writing my story about my Ghost so stay tuned.

Before we visited my 'Ghost' we did enjoy a fabulous lunch at our favourite cafe on Rodd Point.

David's Fish and Chips and my slow cooked Chicken Breast with Lime and Parmesan crust... Yum.

These photos were taken by my Great Grandfather, Captain Samuel Alexander Long, while he was serving in Cairo during WW1. My cousin Andrew has restored them, how wonderful is my cousin eh!

HMAT 'Euripidies' left Sydney Harbour in November 1915 and below is the Officers Menu for Dinner on the 28.11.1915.

Very fancy and filling, I wonder what the regular Soldiers were offered!  This menu is also signed by other officers but I'm wondering what the numbers after their names mean??

This is the 'Euripides' Mouth Organ Band.

 And the Buglers.

Nurses preparing to board the HMHS 'Dunluce Castle' on 7.4.1916.

Photo a Day Challenge - 23-2-2016 - Pastel.

Two very old Pastel Quilts, from the 1930's and both Hexagons but different layouts.   The one on the right was started by David's Grandmother Dudu, I repaired, straightened and finished it off.  The one closest to the camera is just as old and one I fell in love with way back in 2004, an old top found in America.  I'm still hand quilting this one.

Photo a Day Challenge - 18.2.2016 - In the Background.

In the background of this photo is my very favourite home!  I've always loved it and check it out every time I drive down Ku-ring-gai Avenue, actually there are a lot of lovely old homes in this street.

My 'Happy Dress'... Scissor time...

Nerys wearing my Happy Dress, doesn't she look beautiful!    This dress was bought in the late 1970's.

Crafted in British Hong Kong, I'd never noticed that before and hey look...I was once a size 12!

Even Nerys was doubting about whether to leave my Happy Dress long or short.

So we pinned it up.
Aaahhh... she still looks beautiful doesn't she and the truth of the matter is, my Happy Dress would be a lot more useful as a shorty... so go get the scissors Penniedarling!

 Mmmmm.... One, two...

 Three GO... Cut cut... OUCH!

Too late now, keep going Penniedarling... keep going...

It's DONE!    And I survived!  Phew!

Now to hem the dress and make something fantastic for me from the cut off bit, I have some ideas so that's exciting :-)

Stay tuned!

David can have the last bit... fair really seeing he has the smaller spoon but there again he said no to dessert ordering a coffee instead??  So?
Yeah!  'twas, very yum!

I just noticed our Shedding Dragon! Wow this is the first time we've seen this in the past three years.

So beautiful isn't she, shedding and all.

We don't have names for our Dragons, we think that would be insulting to these Ancient ancient animals!   :-)  or we just can't think of one that would suit!

Photo a Day Challenge - 13.2.2016 - A Pet.

We do not like domesticated animals around here but we do love animals of all sorts especially our beautiful lady Water Dragon, isn't she absolutely amazing.  She's been our regular pet for about 3 years now and one of her babies is still enjoying life with us as well  :-)
