Lots going on here today...

David mowed up the leaves from the tennis court.
Charlie is cleaning up the vines on our pergola.
And there's a couple of blokes mending the leaky roof next door.

Photo a Day Challenge - 15.5.2024 - Weathered.

This old letter has weathered well!

This letter from Henry Parkes is almost 160 years old, its about my 2xGreat Grandfather William Long who came to Australia from Ardstraw, Tyrone, Ireland in 1856.

Translation...   (I think)                                       Warrington. South Creek... April 4th 1868.

Dear Mr Young,

I have spoken to the Inspector General about Mr William Long.  What you ask will be at once done and I will hear  something something... if I can serve his interests consistently  with duty to the public for justice.                                                        Yours truly Henry Parkes

I can see these beautiful bright Yellow flowers out side while enjoying a meal in the family room,

Can you see them... I doubt it.
Now you can but it's so wet wet wet outside it was hard to photograph them.

I did creep outside trying to stay away from the rain to photograph them, makes one smile doesn't it.
Our old Jonquils are coming up.
There are still some flowers here, the rain hasn't washed them all off... yet!

Every time I make my Parmesan and Vegemite Crisps I think of a couple of young Americans lads.

I've been making these crisps for about 50 years or so and they always go down well with family and visitors... but Americans??

One thing Americans are sure to say is that they hate Vegemite!

Way back in the early1980's we headed to Queensland in our Albion Double Decker Bus for a holiday with our children.  At Burleigh Heads we met a couple of young American chaps camping near us, they were seeing Australia, our kids made friends with Chris and Tony and we spent time chatting and enjoying the beach with them... then one of these lads said that they hated Vegemite!

Our children of course asked me if I could bake my Crisps... which I did... then while we were all enjoying these Crisps our children jumped up and said... you're eating Vegemite, you're eating Vegemite... Chris and Tony stopped eating then had to admit that they did after all enjoy Vegemite!

Here we are up at Burleigh, on the left are Tomos and Nerys, then Tony and Heather a friend of ours then Briony lying on the grass reading a book next our friend Neill and Sally in their Campervan and David.

A month or so after we'd returned to Sydney Chris and Tony joined us and slept in the Loft of our Garage for a couple of weeks ... one of the first things they asked was...

Do you have any of your Vegemite Crisps please!!   YAY!

I have three friends who I met back in 1945 the year we were born, below is Roger who is the son of my Godfather who was a long time friend with my Dad.

Two of these young gals were also born in 1945, Sue on the left, Rosemary then Jenny born later and Pennie.  Susan and Rosemary are the daughters of sisters both of whom started the same school with my Mum Rosie.

Here we are back in 2018, Rosemary, Pennie and Susan.   Our friendship has been going for almost 79 years...  Gollygosh, how lovely is this eh!  We'll all be 80 next year!

Well...  What is my morning routine??  1. I wake up (no photos allowed)  2.  I head to our EnSuite  (no photos allowed)  3.  I get dressed (no photos allowed)  THEN...  I head downstairs...

Oh I forgot... I did flip my Duvet over to let it air, I never make beds unless I'm using new sheets etc, I much prefer to let my bed linen air it's self.
