Photo a Day Challenge - 28.2.2022 - Favourite word.

Well it is my worst swear word so I hope you don't mind...

PoopootoShirley.

This word came into our family way back in about 1957 with a story our Great Aunt Nancy told us about the time she and our cousin Sue were travelling on the top floor of a Double Decker bus through Piccadilly in London.

On the street below they noticed a largish young woman skipping along and lifting her skirt above her head every now then while Kicking up her Legs... and singing...

We will never know the story here, one can only speculate.

Nancy (aka Cranky) and Sue in Switzerland.

Photo a Day Challenge - 16.4.2020 - Month of Gratitude.

Very Grateful for so many lovely memories of my first-cousin-once-removed Sue Watson.  Sue was only 4 years older than I was, here we are at Wollogorang.  Sue tried to teach me good manners something she learnt from her schools we think... one of these 'manners' still gets a laugh in our family whenever we are together.
When at the dinner table enjoying your meal and you would like some salt, or pepper, or whatever and it is out of your reach you must never say...  'I want the salt', or 'Pass the salt'... one must say naming the person it is closest to... 'Peter, would you like the Salt?'  to which Peter should reply... 'No thank you Pennie, but would you?'   our grandkids love this particular 'Good Manner'  😃😃😃

Sue passed away earlier this year... ❤️ R.I.P Sue.

Sue, my first cousin once removed.

Sue is my mothers first cousin, Sue is only 4 1/2 years older than I am where as Rosie was almost 18 years older.  Sue and I spent a lot of time together at Wollogorang and in Sydney, I remember her taking me to the movies once, we saw the musical 'Rose-Marie' with Nelson Eddy and Jeanette McDonald... it was so wonderful.  I must have been about 6 or 7, she was at boarding school and in uniform.

The second movie was awful and I wanted to leave so Sue made me crawl down the isle and across the seats to the exit so that we didn't block the other customers view of the screen!

Sue now has Dementia and lives just up the road from us so I pop in to say hello every now and then which can be very distressing for the first 15 to 20 minutes but then I show her photos such as some below and she comes back to being the cheeky Sue I remember for up to an hour at least.   Fun but quite emotional as well.
