Photo a Day Challenge - 30.11.2013 - All Done!

I have just finished my 'Blue Gum Quilt Challenge'  Hurray!!!!!!!   Hurray, Hurray!!

Even though I set this challenge with the help from a friend, I really struggled with what I had started sewing, it wasn't until all the Nine Steps of the Challenge were up that I totally changed my mind and headed to these fabrics ... Brilliant ideas sometimes come slowly to one, don't they  :-)

I love what I've made but I ain't showing no one till the revelations next month... check out the Challenge and after the 7th of December, the photos of what the Challengees have made on the Sydney SCQuilters Blog.

Photo a Day Challenge - 29.11.2013 - Black.

Hanging beside me here in the Office, an old London Underground destination roll.  I've never been to 'Noah's Ark... have you?

Okay... so I had to do a Google!

Now we've had this destination roll up in this room for more than 30 years and I've never bothered to wonder where 'Noah's Ark' was until I needed to find a photo for the 'Photo a Day Challenge'...  See below!  This is why I enjoy 'Photo a Day'  :-)

Photo a Day Challenge - 28.11.2013 - I am grateful for...

I am grateful for many many many things but one I rarely mention but just love is... The abundance of wildlife we have on our little surburban block... not only do we get these magnificent King Parrots and these ancient Eastern Water Dragons, both of which I photographed in the last couple of days... we also get Whip Birds, Kookaburras, Tawny Frog Mouth, Lorrikeets, Native Myna's and all sorts of Parrots... although the Sulphur Crested Cockatoo needs a bit of discipline I have to add.

I hope we still have our beautiful Diamond Python, we haven't seen him for a very long time but I still haven't seen any Possum poo around so I'm thinking he may still be here. We rarely see the Bandicoots, but we know they have been visiting most nights because they dig around the garden and tennis court.  We hear but rarely see the Bats and the Frogs... I just love it!

David learns Russian with Elana in Ukraine.

Wednesdays! While I'm playing tennis and laughing and chatting away to my Tennis Friends... David is working hard on serious stuff...

David is in Leichhardt at the Sydney Bus Museum restoring a 1948, AEC Regent III Double Decker Bus that was used as the Harry Potter Bus last year.

A lot of hard work goes into restoring such an historic old vehicle both inside and out.

This is a photo before restoration, the old bus is being covered with huge transfers to make it look like the Harry Potters bus.

Below is the Thompson Family excited about their ride in such a famous bus :-)

David spent many days on Harry Potter Duty... driving Harry Potter fans around the City.

Gwilym often helped as Conductor.  This little girl is a fan!

The bus attracted lots of attention during it's tour of duty.

The Sydney Bus Museum isn't open to the Public yet, check it out on their website.

Photo a Day Challenge - 26.11.2013 - Message.

I found this little message... the scrap of paper above on the sewing room floor the other day, it's from the pattern below and what this 'message' is telling me is who I made each of these animals for ... I made all six for my children and the names above are nieces and nephews, I also made Poo for lots of friends kids.  I was a very busy Poo makes back in those day...

Here is Nerys with her Poo and her Piglet... her first Christmas!

So this pattern is ... 42 years old!

LOL... Here's another photo of our George... this time with Stephen Baldwin.

Now I had to look up Stephen Baldwin, I know I'm a old fuddy duddy...  and found that he's the youngest of the Baldwin brothers... Alec being the oldest... no wonder I thought he looked familiar but didn't know him.  He's not just a 'brother' check out all this...  Stephen Baldwin.

Some people think hoarding is a silly thing to do... but if you know you have something tucked away and you also know that you can put your hands on it in less than a couple of seconds... that can't be called hoarding can it!

The Sydney Sun November 23 1963!

Seven pages dedicated to the shooting of John Kennedy...  I was 18 years old and I remember my mother coming into my room as I got ready for work to tell me... it did take a few hours to accept that it was true.    I also remember my school friends chatter before Kennedy was elected in 1960, we didn't not like the look of Richard Nixon and all hoped that JFK would win because he was better looking  :-)  isn't that how we still vote????    NAH!  I am joking!

David was having a small 21st Birthday Celebration at the time, we hadn't met back then.  What a lot of time and memories since then eh!
