53 Today, 53 Today... we got the key to this door 53 years before.

This lovely home is no longer with us but we do have all the doors, the bath, light fittings and some more in our new? home, which must be almost 40 years old now.

Woke up this morning at something past 3am then couldn't get back to sleep because my head was going round and around in threes.....

Yesterday I enjoyed a couple of long phone calls with long time friends and one of then asked me if I still quilting, I said yes sometimes but mostly now I'm writing books for the family the next one will be scanned copies of the love letters my father Rip wrote to my mother Rosie starting during WW2 from El Alamein and before they were married to way after and I'm just waiting for an online special to get started.

At 3am my mind sort of went around some of the stuff I've written, not only books but Blogs as well...

#1 - 3 Blogs which have been archived in Trove in the National Library of Australia, our Taxi Blog was the first...

https://europebylondontaxi.blogspot.com/

Second is Postcards from Aunty Cranky who travelled the world on and off from 1957 to 1962 sending postcards to myself and siblings... there are 320 postcards on this blog.

https://postcardsfromauntycranky.blogspot.com/

The third blog archived is the Wollogorang Newsletters started by my Great Uncle John from 1958 to 1962, many of the covers were drawn by Rosie.

https://wollogorangnewsviews.blogspot.com/

#2 - 3 Books in the NSW State Library... the first is copies of about 30 of my Christmas Newsletters sent  to family and friends starting in the early 1970.

Second is a book I put together for David for our 40th Wedding Anniversary which is copies of the letters he wrote to me before we were married, the lovely letter I received from Paul Brunton from the State Library said that these letters were very valuable because they weren't a historian's view of what was happening, it wasn't a newspapers view of the 1960's this was two people living back in those days, there are 84 letters in this book and they aren't all lovey dovey they're just what was happening as David travelled to the UK.

The third book is my first copy of 'My Story'.

#3 - 3 Books that are in Ku-ring-gai Library our local, the first is the book I put together of our 26 family and friends who represented Australia during Wars.

The second is about Raymond Bishop who died at Fromelles and who's body was found several years ago and identified using my mum's DNA.

The third is the book I wrote about my Ghost John Witter.

Lovely memories but... but... but then I realized this means I have three books in three different libraries and and and... we live at #333!

Wow!  for the rest of the night my brain just didn't stop looking for threes... SillyPennieDarling!!

Photo a Day Challenge - 27.11.2021 - Light.

This beautiful old light fitting came from our old home which was out the front of our current home, it has to be almost 100 years old and it now sits in our Dining room, or should I say now 'hangs'!  We have an identical light fitting in the Sitting Room next door which was given to us by my friend Smurray!

Celebrating 48 Years with Neill.

Pennie's Grazing Plate.

48 Years Today since we moved into our first home...

Pregnant in the flat we rented in Roseville after we'd returned to Australia in late 1970.
1971 - Baby due in four days time we move to our first home with a little help from our friend Neill... checking out some painting.
Packing our beautiful old London Taxi and our Ford Station Wagon with our goods.  We lived in this old London Taxi while touring England and Europe from 1968 to 1970 before shipping it home before us.  Sally was helping us as well.
 Our home!

Look at that old Garbage Bin!

Inherited Dresser and below table, rug and seats.   The little round table was a wedding gift from David's Aunt Pat 😊

 Bathroom.

Bedroom with bed borrowed from Neill and inherited chest of drawers.

 Back Door.

No longer pregnant in the Kitchen and below...  Nerys our first child arrived 10 days late which gave us time to settle in and be prepared!
Our beautiful old home was pulled down 10 years after this, it was riddled with white ants so we built our current home on the back block, we did use all the old doors, light shades and the old bath though.

Catching up on 'Photo a Day Challenge' - 4/1, 5/1, 6/1, 7/1, 8/1, & 9/1/2014

I found January 4th's Challenge 'Word to live by' just too hard to think about, then I got annoyed by it... there are so many words to live by, one for each day even and which of the many words would I choose if I could only choose one.    Love?  Peace? Grow? Family? Work? Charity? Kindness? Live? Compassion?  Give?  and so on and on I went... then the day passed and life is so wonderful and busy I just shelved 'Word to live by' into the back of my thoughts...

Then I had an idea!  Just be your own silly self and enjoy, I do enjoy thinking of things to photograph for 'Photo a Day Challenge'... so here you have it... lots and lots of words!

4.1.2013 -  'Word to live by'    Now these words are very helpful to live by aren't they!

5.1.2014 - Found - Gotta love Jimmy Moroney, now a grown man working in Law in Brisbane.

6.1.2014 - Happens Everyday -  I walk through our Hallway and notice yet another signature of someone I haven't seen in a while... What has happened to Max Dodd?  Where are you Max? I hope my pursuit of you isn't going to Trivial!

7.1.2014 - Upsidedown - now my friend Brian Caldersmith is one very clever man!  Not only does he have very neat and beautiful writing, he can write totally upside down and it still looks neat and tidy!

8.1.2014 - Lucky Number - 333 is indeed our very lucky number.

9.1.2014 - Natural -  The heights of our children when they were Newborn.

The full grown heights of Nerys and Briony... and me on the far left there.

The full grown heights of Tomos and Gwilym... and David on the far right with Tim in the middle :-)

Photo a Day Challenge - 8.7.2013 - Path.

Can you see the sandstone path up to our old house, when we built our new home (42 years ago) behind this old house David dug up the sandstone and made a dry stone retaining wall along the driveway side of the tennis court... waste not want not!

Remember the 'Animal' Photo a Day a few days ago? Well I've just found some old photos of our little Poddy 'Sooty'.

Briony feeding 'Sooty' which became impossible as 'Sooty' grew faster and larger than Briony :-)

 Nerys with 'Sooty'.

Now this is a Surprise... who is that big Sheep photo bombing this photo?  It's not our first Sheep 'Suzie' because she was dead before we got home from the UK... so who is it ?????  I will have to ask David and he's not here right now...  Stay Tuned!!
P.S.  I think we were minding that sheep in the background for Pippy... I don't know where she got it from but not long after this photo was taken she took it to her farm in Camden!  Phew... the brain still works!

Photo a Day Challenge - 3.6.2013 - On my Table.

Michelle and Shin are here... they come once a month and clean up all the mess that I've managed to make since they came last time.  I work flat out all day changing bed linen, cleaning out cupboards, sorting and throwing out stuff then they arrive late in the afternoon and clean up for me :-)    I love these days, I'm exhausted, the house is clean then to finish off a perfect day ... we jump into clean sheets!  :-)
P.S.  Michelle does a brilliant job on my stove top as well :-)
