Yesterday we enjoyed a Surprise 60th Birthday Party for my cousin Robyn.
It was held at the Winston Hotel at Winston Hills. I was a little daunted as I hadn't seen my cousin for many years and I didn't know any of her family except for her husband Rod, her sister and my cousin, Susan and her husband Doug and of course their father my Uncle David who married my father's youngest Sister Audrey. I was a flower girl at David and Audrey's wedding, that's me on the far right aged 10 and my father Ripley in uniform, I don't know the others. Audrey died 48 years ago.
I felt a little daunted because I reckoned I would know 5 people!
I told Nerys that we both felt a little daunted and she very wisely said... sometimes the most daunting events turn out to be some of the best and how right was she! We really had a wonderful time meeting so many people and enjoying a good catch up with those I did know.
Robyn with her cake and lots of Grandchildren.
Pennie, Robyn, Uncle David and Sue with Robyn's husband doing???
Daniel, James and John with their mother Robyn and their Grandfather David.

Then a visit to Remy's School and it's wonderful Playground.
Elodie rowing the boat to I don't know where...
Gwilym getting the Waterfall going... how clever is this!
Then off to the Golden Barley Hotel for a delightful early dinner of Grilled Squid, Corn Puree and Asparagus Salad... sorry I didn't take a photo but I will be making this dish myself someday soon, it was must my sort of thing.
WARNING - WARNING - WARNING - THE BELOW PHOTO MAY FRIGHTEN YOU...

Another place we cannot go to now, I'm standing in the footprints of Gavrilo Princip a Bosnian Serb member of Young Bosnia who
sought an end to Austro-Hungarian rule in Bosnia and Herzegovina. At the
age of 19, he assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and the
Archduke's wife, Sophie, Duchess of Hohenberg, in Sarajevo on 28 June
1914.
The Museum behind me and the footprints have been removed.

Christmas Day 1991 we were chosen to be filmed by a Japanese Film crew for something about Australia to be shown in Japan... we did get a Video of this event but it was only a couple of minutes long.
All my Rodd Family were here and it was great fun! Learning to do Origami.

The things one finds on our Signature Wall... James Rodd is a distant cousin of mine, he is now known as Lord Rennell of Rodd, (he inherited this title). James lived with us for about 6 months in the late 1990's and according to his comment here... he didn't eat the Salad! I sure hope he's eating Salad now! 😃
P.S. I sent James this photo and he tells me he still doesn't like Salad!!!!

Today would have been Mum and Dad's 75th Wedding Anniversary... Here's Rosie with long time friends Margaret and Jim Mackay... Rip is behind Rosie with the hat on, we're celebrating Rip and Rosie's Ruby Wedding Anniversary at our home.
Let me tell you my saddest memory.
1950 - My 5th Birthday Party and we were living with my Grandparents Poppa and Mama (Rosie's parents) in Strathfield. I remember it so clearly, about 6 little people sitting around a little table on the verandah enjoying some seriously yummy party food when 'The Mackay's' arrived late, I've forgotten the name of their son... anyway... they arrived all smiles and happiness and I was just thrilled because they were carrying a little present all wrapped up, I stand up to receive this gift but they hand it to my 18 month old brother Tim and wish him Happy Birthday... it's not his Birthday, it's mine! They've got it wrong 😢 and what does Rosie do?? Nothing! Tim is already ripping open this present and it's a small nail brush, he's thrilled and too young to understand that it's MINE really.
I sooo wanted a small nailbrush, it should have been mine 😢😟😕😠😦 I have never forgotten this incident and nor the 'Mackay's'!
I do know Rosie was embarrassed but... that little nail brush should have been mine mine mine...
