These lovely Angels bring back happy memories and today Rosie would have been 103.

My mum Rosie made these Angels for me many years ago when I was participating in the SCQuilters 'Angel Swap',  they sit in our garden very happily.

Rip'n'Rosie in 1944.

2004 - Celebrating their 60th Anniversary on Rodd Island with all four kids plus many many other guests!

Rip'n' Rosie lived to good ages, Rip was 94 and Rosie 89 when they passed just a couple of years apart.

Rosie and Rip just loved Christmas.

Long gone but never forgotten Rosie and Rip just loved Christmas, the kids remember when all the family were coming here on Christmas Day the best bit was when Rip and Rosie arrived, the kids would all rush out to greet them and to help carry in the boxes and boxes of pressies... lovely memories.

Memories!

This picture frame fell off our wall the other night and I don't know if this sounds a tad creepy or ??? It's a photo of us kids and grand kids plus extended family celebrating our parents/grandparents/aunt and uncle - Rip and Rosie's 40th Wedding Anniversary... and... next Saturday would have been their 80th Wedding Anniversary, of course they have both passed but... ??? are they telling us that we could celebrate what would have been their 80th?

Photo a Day Challenge - 5.9.2022 - Hobby.

My main Hobby right now is putting together books for our family, the one I'm working on now is scanning these Love Letters my father Rip wrote to my mother Rosie starting before then were married and further on... they start in 1943 at El Alamein during WW2.

The little snippet below is amusing.

(LEAFLETS DROPPED ON    Aust 9th Division at El Alamein by German African Corps Aircraft. They came in handy for toilet paper of which we had none!      R)

My current interest is getting all the love letters, into a book, that our father Ripley wrote to our mother Rosie, this is one sent from El Alamein during WW2 in 1943, before they married.

Christmas is on it's way...

Wonderful memories of my parents Rip'n'Rosie. Rosie absolutely loved Christmas shopping for all her kids, her in-laws and grand kids. My children remember waiting for them to come down our drive on Christmas Day, they would rush out greet them and help carry box after box after box of carefully wrapped goodies, this was one of our gifts in 1997.

Photo a Day Challenge - 25.12.2019 - Celebrate.

I just love this photo of Rip'n'Rosie, one of my very favourite, they loved celebrating Christmas Day with the family as did we, Rosie always went overboard with Pressies for us all which was fun with lots of paper to recycle.
Long gone these two but never forgotten... As Rosie said the day before she died, 'I can't wait to be forever dancing on Rodd Island with Rip', so that's where we scattered them together.

Photo a Day Challenge 14.10.2019 - Free Choice Month.

Today would have been Mum and Dad's 75th Wedding Anniversary... Here's Rosie with long time friends Margaret and Jim Mackay... Rip is behind Rosie with the hat on, we're celebrating Rip and Rosie's Ruby Wedding Anniversary at our home.

Let me tell you my saddest memory.

1950 -  My 5th Birthday Party and we were living with my Grandparents Poppa and Mama (Rosie's parents) in Strathfield.   I remember it so clearly, about 6 little people sitting around a little table on the verandah enjoying some seriously yummy party food when 'The Mackay's' arrived late, I've forgotten the name of their son... anyway... they arrived all smiles and happiness and I was just thrilled because they were carrying a little present all wrapped up, I stand up to receive this gift but they hand it to my 18 month old brother Tim and wish him Happy Birthday... it's not his Birthday, it's mine!  They've got it wrong  😢  and what does Rosie do??  Nothing!  Tim is already ripping open this present and it's a small nail brush, he's thrilled and too young to understand that it's MINE really.

I sooo wanted a small nailbrush, it should have been mine 😢😟😕😠😦  I have never forgotten this incident and nor the 'Mackay's'!

I do know Rosie was embarrassed but... that little nail brush should have been mine mine mine...
