Charlie's Formal Birthday Dinner... Party #2

Charlie is so Cool, he asked for a Dinner Suit for his birthday... and that's what he got!  I think he's seen a few James Bond movies don't you  :-)

David and Pennie were invited to the Formal Dinner Birthday Party, so they dressed appropriately... even if Pennie did a rotten job of tying David's bow-tie...  and no looking at footwear please!  or looking for footwear :-)

For our Formal Dinner Party the Party boy requested Pizza's, how Formal can one get eh!

With a little help from Pennnie the Host of the special night put together our Dessert!  A family favourite!  Yoghurt, Berries and Toffee Shards.

With a lot of help from his Big Brother Jackson, Charlie and Jack put together their favourite Lego from the Lego Movie.

This was firstly an Ice Cream Van but with a little jiggle here and there it became this Flying Ice Cream Van... don't ask me, I haven't seen the movie!

Ann-Maree... your wish is my command! Photos of the house that was built on the tiniest block of land possible... and sold in March for One Million Dollars! Just Madness!

 Not much backyard.

 Not much front yard.

Not very beautiful is it, or easy to live in I suspect being that close to the road, no road parking out the front and the 'very busy at weekends Oval...'

But it is an easy walk to the shops, and they are very good shops!

Although it sold in early March nobody has move in???  So what's going on there?  If I paid a Million to live somewhere... I'd live there!

The photos on their website are much fancier than mine, take a look... Click Here.

Charlie is having a Birthday tomorrow, here is his friends Party... lets call it Party #1 :-)

There were party pies and sausage roll, and games.  (Jackson and Kiaro were the games Organizers)

This was a fun game, you had to pick up as many pieces of paper with the straw... Kiaro, (Jackson's friend) was timing them.

Gold Medal to the Nerys, Party Planner, Mother of the Birthday Boy and all round fantastic Mum who did not only a brilliant job of the cake, she did a brilliant job of the games and every thing else as well.

Nerys said this was very easy to make!!!!!!!!!   Looks so WOW!  doesn't it!

The almost 8 year old, and his cake... Happy Birthday to You Charlie!

What was left of the cake.

Four beautiful boys.    Thanks for inviting us to Party #1 Charlie  :-)

Hey Dad, have you heard the one about....

Remy's first game of 'Two Up'.

Nothing more fun than a bit of a 'Splash'  when it comes to bath time.  :-)

A Rant!

While happily sewing away in my sewing room yesterday, I learned from ABC Digital Radio and 'Speaking Out', of something that made me absolutely sick!  It's played on my mind since, so this morning I've been searching away on Google and there is a lot out there about this disgraceful incident, am I the only one who didn't know I wonder!

Below is an article from ABC's PM with Mark Colvin, it was on air 4 years ago but listening to 'Speaking Out' yesterday was the first time I'd ever heard of this shameful event.

Did you know that Australian Aboriginals, some whom willingly enlisted and were sent to South Africa to work as Trackers during the Boer War... were not allowed back to their homeland, home of their ancestors, home of their families and the only life they had ever known...  because of that bloody 'White Australia' Policy that went on for at least 50 years!

Methinks I need to head back to the Sewing Room with some calming music!

A boy loves Berries.

Two full punnets of berries makes a boy very happy!  The sourness of the Raspberries didn't put him off one little bit.

Photo a Day Challenge - 26.4 2014 - Enjoy the little things.

The tallest of these smallest of my Babushka's is only 5 1/2 cm tall and that's the cat in the hat!

The smallest doll is smaller than an ordinary grain of rice!

I do enjoy these little things  :-)

P.S. Note that one Poo Bear has the word on his Honey container spelt  incorrectly!  ... it was never 'Honey'... it was always 'Hunny' in the books  :-)

I've been adding to my MacFamilyTree a fair bit lately and today, being a Remembering Day I thought I'd post this on FaceBook as many of my friends have been doing of their relatives... here it is for those friends of mine that aren't on FB

So many photos up on FB of WW1 and WW2 Soldiers, it's really lovely seeing them all, even if it is through the odd tear or two and of course my family was represented in both Wars as well. Here are four that I knew well and loved well, they were the most gentle, fun loving, hard working and generous men... as a young child I never knew of the horrors they had seen and I certainly never guessed until days such as these days.  Anzac Day, a day of Remembering.
#1 Major Brent Burnell Rodd, my Great Uncle, served in France WW1.
#2 Driver Clements Ripley Rodd, my paternal Grandfather, young brother to Brent, served in France.
#3 Gunner Harrie Cleveland Cobcroft, my maternal Grandfather served in France WW1 awarded Military Medal and a Bar.
#4 Lt Ripley Clements Rodd, my Dad, served at El Alemein during WW2.

I've been remembering them and thinking of them a lot today and many other family members who represented their country from the Boer War as well as WW1 and WW2.

Lest We Forget.

Photo a Day Challenge - 25.4.2014 - Remember. ANZAC DAY.

Gunner Harrie Cleveland Cobcroft, my Maternal Grandfather.

 2nd/3rd June 1918.

This was sent to Harrie's mother in Australia while he was in France.

It's the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It's the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It's the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It's the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. It's the soldier, who salutes the flag, serves under the flag and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who gives the protestor the right the burn the flag. __Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Sorting, sorting and more sorting... finding a few more treasures as well.

What can I say...  Buttons and yet more Buttons!

The buttons in the bowl on the right are mine but the buttons in the bowl on the left are my late Aunt Anne's and they are many many years older than mine... some fascinating buttons in there that's for sure.

These two bowls and I don't know how many more there were, belonged to Rip'n'Rosie, they were Wedding presents.  My parents married in 1944 so shops were short of all sorts of things, especially gifts, but just before the Wedding Day,  a shipment of cut glass bowls arrived at David Jones...  so the guests bought bowls, and bowls and bowls...

A few surprising finds in the button box... Air Force buttons, suspenders, a 1922 Penny coin, a 1951 Halfpenny coin and a 1973 1cent coin... plus a 2001 Census badge?

I wonder how old and where these came from??   I just looked them up on Google.
They are WW2 RAAF Air Force Buttons.

Maybe Anne or Tony delivered and collected the Census forms?

An old undated Arnott's Biscuit Tin to add to my collection  :-)

 Old weird stuff...

And a nice little tin... I wonder what this once held?
