Photo a Day Challenge - 31.1-2015 - On Top.

1968 - On top of one of the hills surrounding a lovely little Welsh Village called Bala.

And from Google Maps today, some of the little cottages in High Street, Bala made from local stone.

Photo of the Day Challenge - 29-1-2015 - Summer.

This is what Summer used to be for me, not the wet wet wet we are experiencing right now.

This photo was taken in about 1956/7 by Rosie and I think it's Coolangatta in Queensland.  Dad took long service leave and we headed North for 6 weeks in a Caravan... hang on I have to show you the Caravan.

Photo a Day Challenge - 28.1.2015 - Strange.

Well yes!  If I'm wearing a fur trimmed coat I will always get a Man to change my oil.

Actually I always get a man to change my oil... and I never wear fur trimmed coats.

Photo a Day Challenge - 25.1.2015 - Black and White.

This photo is of David's Albion 1892 taken when it was still in service in the 1960's on Pitt Street and Circular Quay, or is it called Loftus Street?

I've just enjoyed a wonderful Goggle Map wander checking out 10 Pitt Street, which is the Ship Inn at Circular Quay.  Beautiful old Pub and what a wonder that it is still standing.

View below from the Cahill Expressway.  I'm glad they didn't knock it down and build one of these boring sky scraper buildings.

I think vicious intent is going on in this 'play time' squirting Jack or Charlie is the aim of the game.

Photo a Day Challenge - 16.1.2015 - Nature.

This is what I love about the beautiful nature around me... yes there are a lot of leaves in the pool from those great big Lemon Scented Gums we planted more than 40 years ago... but it's worth the mess when you can enjoy the life Nature brings.  Our beautiful and quite friendly Water Dragon.

Photo a Day Challenge - 15.1.2015 - Old.

This barn was built by my ancestor John Cobcroft who arrived in Australia in 1790 on the Second Fleet along with his girlfriend Sarah Smith.  The barn is still standing and this year we are going to Celebrate 225 years of John and Sarah's arrival in Sydney Harbour, at St John's Church Wilberforce where John and Sarah and many of their descendants are buried.

Photo a Day Challenge - 13.1.2015 - Lucky Number.

1892 is our lucky number!   We bought this Albion Sydney Double Decker Bus way back in 1972 and we enjoyed many a long holiday and many a long picnic with kids and kids friends for years and years.

This is our School Holiday trip to Dubbo Zoo via Bathurst of course.  Top deck from back, Gwilym, Prue, Nerys, Sebastian and Briony up front.   Tom is in the drivers seat but who is the child downstairs at the back?  Help please children of mine.
1892 is still the record holder for Double Decker Buses on the Mount Panorama Race Track at Bathurst.
The fastest Albion on the track.

Photo a Day Challenge - 11.1.2015 - I see.

I took G1 thru to G5 shopping for their Christmas Presents last week and look what they bought!    Mooks!

A few years ago I had never heard of Mooks but I spied this set of Matryoshka's on Ebay and had to have them.  This is the only thing I have ever bought on Ebay and I fought hard for it and 'won' it at the very last second.

During one of the Grandchildren's sleep overs I was asked which was my largest Babushka... so out came the Mooks.  The children were hooked  :-)  Hence three of them now wearing Mooks shirts!  I should ask for a discount at this rate.
This is what I wrote on my Babushka Blog.
I 'won' these on Ebay... if you can call paying almost $100 a win! Mooks is a very trendy Australian teen street wear store which opened in Melbourne in 1991... These Matryoshka's weren't sold, they were given to shops selling Mooks for either display or to keep. I've never seen anything like them before, they are my largest set at almost 28cm, all hand painted and with stickers on them of the Mooks labels. I am the coolest, trendiest Matryoshka Collector you are ever likely know!

Explanation of Mooks from their Website.

Where does the name Mooks come from.
This question is posed in the classic 1973 Martin Scorsese film, "Mean Streets" and once featured on a now infamous Mooks t-shirt graphic. Mook is old New York slang for a hipster, a hustler, a wiseguy or even a fool.
