Photo a Day Challenge - 8.3.2019 - Grateful For...
So so so grateful to these two beautiful people. David's Uncle Keith and Aunt Virginia in Carmel California in 1970, so generous making our four months of touring possible with their generosity... We toured the West Coast of America from Carmel north to Vancouver then south down Mid West America to Mexico and back to Carmel, how lucky were we!

Photo a Day Challenge - 26.9.2018 - Kind Act.
1970 - arriving in San Francisco for a four month stay and with only $US18 to our name in the hope that David's Uncle Keith and Aunt Virginia, who told us we had to visit them on our way home after our trip from England through Russia and Siberia... would find us jobs was very quickly dashed when Keith said no Visa no Jobs!
But he then took us to his bank... and his act of kindness meant we were able to buy a second hand station wagon and spend most of those four months camping through California, Oregon, Washington into Canada then East to Medicine Hat, South through Montana, Yellowstone National Park, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, Tucson and into Baj California, then north to Disneyland, Los Angeles and back to Carmel.
Forever thankful to Keith and Virginia for this seriously 'kind act'.

Photo a Day Challenge - 18.8.2014 - Arrow.
David's Uncle Keith was married to Virginia Pope who was the daughter of Dr Saxton Pope.
Virginia had me in raptures as she told us all about Ishi who was the last of the Yahi Indians of America, she told us of Ishi living with them for long periods how he learned to eat a meal with them and so on. Virginia had some arrow heads that Ishi had made but I don't have a photo of them so I did a Google and here's a photo of the Arrows and Ishi himself.
Many years after Virginia told us of Ishi we saw a story about him on SBS, Virginia was thrilled when I rang her.
From Wiki...
Ishi, having come to live in San Francisco, and having no immunity to the 'diseases of civilization,' was often ill. He was treated by a Professor of Medicine at UCSF, Saxton T. Pope. Pope became close friends with Ishi, and learned from him how to make bows and arrows in the Yahi way. He and Ishi often hunted together.
