Dunno why I do things sometimes but yesterday's 'thing' gave me a big smile. It's 1954, we are living at Kapooka Army Camp and QE11 is coming to Wagga!
I was 9 years old and a Brownie (for about two weeks if the truth be known). Brownies, Guides, Scouts, Cubs and lots of School Children packed the streets to see QE11 and the Duke drive by... all I remember really is the heat, it was 88 degrees, or 31c, I remember feeling crushed and very very hot and being given an ice block before we headed home... but the best memory is of my dad Rip being close to the Queen... I found an old movie on YouTube and managed to do a Grab of my Dad. on left in the photo above... the Queen is hidden behind the men in the middle of this photo and that's the Duke on the right.

T'was indeed a beautiful 72nd Birthday with my beautiful Sydney family, the most fantastic Beef Rib Roast on the BBQ and for the first time since summer we sat outside in the sun! Thanks Everyone!
Emily and Elodie checking out the progress on the Cubby.
The Fondue line... Be nice now everybody, no pushing in, if you drop your bread in the cheese you loose it, don't fill your bread up with so much cheese you drop some on the floor... and move away quickly when you've had your turn.
Look just how happy this DIL of mine is emptying and filling the dishwasher... don't you wish you had your own Emily!!
What a beaut game for Elodie, invented by Elodie herself! Little movie in post below.
One of my birthday presents... some Lemon Thyme under my clothesline... Thanks Gwil and Remy.
Beautiful Jonquils from Nerys plus... an iTunes card :-)
Photo Bombers!!

Absolutely delicious Leftovers for my Birthday Cake... Delicious Pear cake bottom right bought last weekend by Lissapoo, Creamy sponge with Ribbon bought by David's cousin Bill last Thursday.
Left plate, Apple Flan bought by Francoise last Monday... and some beautiful chocolate strawberries sent from Canberra by Briony and Kate and James William.
What a beautiful smile Elodie... and Emily.

Meanwhile... Somewhere in France. TEAM-G are having a wonderful time in the Sun.

Castellane, France.
TEAM-G have just been visiting our friend Marie-Therese in France. Marie-T lives in Castellane, just one and a half hours north of Cannes and has her own hotel.
We first met Marie-These back in 1977, she was the teenage Grand daughter of a friend of ours friend and wanted to learn English. We were back living in Guildford with three little children (6, 4 & 1) and loved the thought of having a young French girl living with us for a few weeks.
We loved Marie-T so much she came back the next year.
We kept in touch and when Nerys was 18 we sent her to the UK and France for 12 months to work and travel. She started off as a Nanny for M-T's son Stephan. When Tomos was 18 we sent him off on the same adventure, Gwilym and Emily visited next them Briony a few years ago.
When we went back to live in the UK for the third time in 2006, we surprised M-T by rocking up to Castellane out of the blue... M-T had done this to us about 10 years before by just walking in the sliding door at Turramurra, her husband was racing in the Sydney to Hobart at the time.
2006 - Pennie, Marie-Therese and David'
Laura, M-T and Tibor.
