Photo a Day Challenge - 24.3.2019 - Black and White.
Can you find Penniedarling in this photo... I did not like this school one little bit! Got a detention for taking my hat and gloves off on the bus on the way home in the middle of summer, it was a 60 minute bus ride!

Two years ago, our local Primary school celebrated it's100th Year!
We bought bricks for each of our children and one for the two of us... there was another Griffiths family at our school and their children all had Welsh names... can you tell which is which family :-)

Photo a Day Challenge - 14.7.2014 - Old School.
As some of you already know I went to many many schools... This one is still as I remember it although it used to be Willoughby Girls Primary on the left and Willoughby Boys Primary on the right... with a fence right down the middle of the Playground.
When I first started at this school, in 5th Class in 1956, we were living at Strathfield with my mothers parents. Dad had started working at 7 Field Regiment Willoughby but the married quarters had not yet been built. When school term started Dad had to get to work earlier than us so he had a couple of Sergeant's pick my brother Tim and I up from Strathfield and drive us to school in Dad's Officers car. The route they took was past the Northern Suburbs Crematorium and one of the Sergeants would delight with telling us about the bodies being burnt and sitting up and groaning. I have never forgotten these trips!
When we arrived at the School we were so embarrassed, not only did we arrive at school in a car, (everyone walked or caught a bus in those days...) but this 'car' stood out as something special. Tim and I would crouch down below the window and quickly open the door before the Sergeant could and we would rush up the path behind the car and then pretend we didn't know anything about that Army Car being there LOL!!
This was so embarrassing... not only were we new to the School, it wasn't an Army School it was a real suburban School in the Big City and we'd just come from Kapooka!!
It wasn't long before the Married Quarters was finished and then we were able to go to School in the School Bus. What joy!

Scatterdays #4 - Penniedarlings 'C'.
C - Schooldays - Croydon Public is one of the 13 Schools I attended
as a child, I was probably only here for a few months though. When my
father went back into the Army after WW2, we moved around a great deal.
During this time he often needed to be in Sydney for another Officers
Training Course so we would move back into my Grandparents home in
Strathfield and I would be taken to whichever School my Aunt or Uncle
were teaching at, I notched up a lot of unmemorable schools in the late
1940's early 1950's.
C - Where I live - this had me flummoxed for a while, then I thought I'd go up to our local shops and photograph the Chemist... but it isn't called a 'Chemist', now it's called a Pharmacy! But silly me spotted these two eating places... which I should have remembered in the first place! Doh!
The Cooks Garden is an excellent Restaurant in the shop which was originally a Post Office.

The Corner Cafe is pretty dreadful, the reviews online are less than positive which I'm not surprised about I don't know anyone who shops there but look at the crowd!
All these photos were taken with 'Grab' the 'Where I live' photos were taken on an Election Day hence all the people in The Corner Cafe!
