Photo a Day Challenge - 24.1.2020 - Treat Ourself.

Couldn't resist this photo... it was a Seafood Restaurant in Lisbon and that Shell Fish hanging in the window was alive and moving which attracted those passing by as you can see by the look on this mans face.

1968 - We had very little cash to spend on our couple of months tripping around Europe, we slept in the back of a diesel London Taxi Cab, (diesel was cheaper than petrol in Europe), we did enjoy the odd shower at a Youth Hostel about once a week and we stocked up with canned and dried foods in England because it was cheaper so cooked ourselves most meals... But we treated ourselves in each big town by enjoying a meal in a restaurant... we judged the restaurant by what the cost of a Prawn Cocktail was on the menu stuck on the window, 3/6 (3 shillings & sixpence).
When writing my 'Europe by London Taxi Blog' I found an old postcard we'd sent to a family member which said... 8 weeks cost us 100 English Pounds for fuel, food and the odd Youth Hostel! Amazing.

1968 - I've never been a religious person but The Last Supper in Milan really had me in awe.

As did this beautiful and very friendly Giraffe we met at Longleat, Wiltshire.

Photo a Day Challenge - 22.1.2020 - Cold.

1969 - Our Campsite near the Futa Pass, about one hour north of Florence. We so remember waking up in the morning and trying to get out of the back of our Taxi to do a bush wee... (is it called a 'bush wee' in Europe?) both of us had to use two legs pushing to get one door open because of the build up of snow on the running boards. Ever done a wee in thick snow... Mmmmm... never forgotten that either!

Below 1970 in France... am I mad or something? looking very cool in almost knee deep snow! This was the first of our two, two month tours driving around Europe living in a London Taxi... below is the Taxi we sent home, we still have the number plate.
