Photo a Day Challenge - 8.4.2020 - Month of Gratitude.
Grateful to have such a wonderful Great Aunt like my Aunty Granky!
Aunty Cranky was my mothers Aunt Nancy, she and my Great Uncle John lived and ran 'Wollogorang' sheep station, it was John who nicknamed his wife 'Cranky' because when he first met her she was a Cranky Nurse so that's what she was known as down on the farm... but not to my family, she was Nancy to them.
Not only was Aunty Cranky most welcoming on our stays at Wollogorang she was very generous. Cranky bought me so many books, I loved reading as a child and a teen and she supplied me with so many books, most of which I still have... must look them out!
When Cranky visited us at her sisters home in Strathfield, my Mama and Poppa's home, she would take me into the city as a treat, buy me more books and best of all Afternoon Tea at David Jones or somewhere just as posh.
Cranky travelled a lot sending me and my siblings lots of postcards some of which were photos of her, her friend Mills and my cousin Sue.
Venice.
Switzerland.
Snapped in Sydney by a street photographer, Cranky my mum Rosie and in the middle at back my Aunt Pam.
France.
And below... at Wollogorang with friend Randy.
A few years ago I scanned all those 320 postcards Cranky sent and put them on a Blog that has been archived by the National Library of Australia. http://postcardsfromauntycranky.blogspot.com/
