Trip to Canberra stopping for lunch in Goulburn and our Hotel.

When visiting Wollogorang as a kid and as a teenager I remember the groceries being ordered from 'Thompson's', a small store in Goulburn, whoever was in town the day of the order, would pick the groceries up and deliver to the Homestead... David remembers doing this as well.

On previous visits David and I would search for 'Thompson's' without much luck but last Friday I decided to get out of the car and ask the people in this store!   Jackpot!  It was owned by the Thompson's in the 50's and 60's.   The only thing left is this old Fanta Advertisement.

We were thrilled by the special deal I got with our hotel with what was the old Olims, now Mercure.
How lovely is the central Courtyard.

Beautiful Red Rhododendron.... I so want one now!

Our balcony and room.

Each time we head down the Hume Highway we stop at Goulburn for lunch.

We usually stop at the Paragon Cafe in Goulburn but we are a tad tired of the meals which all include chips so decided to stop at 'The Roses Cafe' in Montague Street, instead.  Wow!  What a delight.  We enjoyed it so much we called back on our way home.  Fabulous menu with everything made on the premises.

For almost all of my life I've stopped off at the Paragon on my journey... and I may again one day.

Check out this beautiful building, right next to Roses Cafe, it's the Goulburn Court House!
