Our friend EweGene, from Arizona, sent me some photos of his beautiful flowering Cactus... W0W!

Took a couple of photos from our garden this morning, this beautiful Banksia is the only native in flower at the moment.

We have plenty of limes and plenty of figs, only problem is the figs drop off before ripening 😞

We do have plenty of pretty Camellia's in flower.

Last of the Hibiscus and a pretty little Iris... lovely.

Now here's a story worth recording!! Amazing and a little Spooky as well!

Last year I started looking for friends we'd met at Wollogorang Sheep Station in the mid 1960's and hadn't seen for almost 50 years.  One of these friends Gene aka Ewe-gene... was living back in his home country of the USA and was coming to Australia for a visit in December.

We emailed back and forth and sent photos back and forth, Skype-ed several times... THEN... when I sent Gene this photo of Tomos he replied... ' Jackie Howe...'

WHAT?

We had no idea why this name came up?   Do you?

Gene told us that Tomos was wearing a 'Jackie Howe'!   News to us, we just thought he was wearing a blue singlet. (A fun Kris Kringle gift from David with Abi's beautiful art on his arm.)

 Gene and Pennie last December.

So... after Gene visited us he headed up to Queensland where he has a lot of family and then...
photos started coming from Warwick, he tells us he's educating us on OUR Australian History!  He's an American!  Yes he has lived here for many years but... he's American!
(P.S. I've been told by the aforementioned 'American' that he is also a Naturalized Australian... sorry Ewegene :-)

Stay with me till the end!

Then a Disc arrived with a 32 page PDF about Jackie Howe!

THEN IN YESTERDAY'S SYDNEY MORNING HERALD CROSSWORD!!!

It turns out that the wife of Shearer Jackie Howe was so sick of trying to clean his white singlets after a day of shearing... she died them Blue!

Now... if it wasn't for our friend Ewe-Gene... David would never have been able to get Crossword Clue One Across!

Turns out this American is teaching us about our Aussie History!
