We enjoyed an 'Outing' today... or did we??? That is the question...

We decided to go to the Newport Arms for lunch, now just called the Newport!
Having lived just around the corner of the Arms in the 1960's and my mother running the Newport Post Office and Newsagency back in the day I have only fond memories of that area, my first job was at the Alley Cat Milk Bar way way way back in those days.
Beautiful Pittwater.

Outdoor eating area.
Some of the indoor eating.

Love this pot above.

Unfortunately we felt very uncomfortable especially with the Menu, which was not easy to negotiate and the mention of Chilli too often... not for me... So we decided to go down to the beach and see what sort of Cafe's were down there...  Nah... nothing stood out so off to see 5 Calvert Parade and the home David's Grandfather had built 100 years ago now, we'd lived here for a few months after returning home from our jaunt in Europe and Russia and the USA.  The house is almost impossible to see from the street now with all these lovely trees.

Next decision was to head to The Beach Club at Collaroy, we've been here often and loved every visit... by the time we got there they were closed for the day,  Collaroy Beach looking just beautiful and that wonderfully blue water!

Gosh where are we going to have lunch??  We even thought of Kenchucky Chicken or Maccas...  Nah that's wasn't our thing so we drove home and David made us Toasted Sandwiches... Corned Beef he'd cooked, cheese, spinach leaves... yes indeed very yum... but What an *Outing!!!

* When first living in the UK we stayed with David's friend Peter Waugh's parents and if Elsie was doing something which meant going out of the house... it was always just called 'An Outing'  it could have been to the shops this 'Outing' but she would always say... Well it was an Outing!
