Yesterday our little group of Quilters enjoyed a delightful lunch at Lyn and Howards for our 2019 Quilt Challenge Revelation.

Lyn, Pennie, Robyn, Penny, Lynne and Irene, we let some blokes to join us at this yearly gathering.
David, Stephen, Howard and Bob.

Our 2019 Ku-ring-gai Challenge was chosen by Lyn who suggested 'Solid Coloured Fabrics'.
This is the first Solid Quilt I made, sort of like a paint chart and... I did not have to buy a single fabric for this quilt, I had these and many more 'solid' fabrics in my Stash!

Then I realized for years, when I had no really interesting handwork to do I would take along these left over 3/16th inch hexagons turning them into star blocks, the hexi fabric was left over from a quilt I started back in 2005.... Hey!  I thought while I was sewing with my Ku-ring-gai friends... these fabrics are Solids.
Okay so I did go overboard a bit with the hand quilting, variegated coloured thread on and around the stars and gold thread around each tiny little white star!  And I love it.

Just look at Lyn's stunning quilt for a yet to be born baby, how lovely.

Penny made a table runner using some beautiful silk fabric she bought many years ago in Thailand.

Just beautiful solid felt quilt to hang on Lyn's wall, very bright and happy. Lyn also made the bright quilt below with with a 'Solid' backing as well.

As usual it was another delightful fun day.  Our little group started getting together every fortnight more than 20 years ago and our first Challenge was back in 2006... Gosh!  this is our 14th Challenge.

It was my turn to choose our Challenge for 2020 so this is what I suggested.

KU-RING-GAI CHALLENGE 2020

We’ve all made quilts but there's also…

Knitting          Crochet          Smocking     Lace
Tatting         Embroidery      Stitchery       Felting
Bunting           A Toy              Pottery    Woodwork
Pottery          Beading           Jewellery    Cross Stitch

Write a book with stories of your best childhood memories

Candle or Soap making… nah, I’m getting silly now!

Come on, lets be brave!  Give it a go and lets see what we all come up with.

I clued pins onto the back of these tiny little Cotton Reels and gave each Ku-ring-gai a broach!  You may have noticed us wearing them in the first photo.
